It’s been four months since the release of Diablo 2: Resurrected. Initially, this event pleased fans of the series. However, after getting acquainted with the game a lot of questions arose. It turned out that the new Diablo has a lot of bad parts. Of course, we can’t say that the game is bad. The developers have done a tremendous job to please all the fans. So why is Diablo 2: Resurrected got such a surprisingly low score? There are several reasons for that.
The developers initially stated that they wanted to keep the game as authentic as possible. And then they say that the characters should not look like they’re going to a nightclub. As a result, players got an aged Amazon, Bloody Crow wasn’t as attractive as she used to be, and the beautiful mercenary Natalia was replaced by a broad-shouldered woman. How significant is this? Given that players often associate themselves with their characters, such changes in appearance were not to the liking of many.
The developers particularly emphasised the fact that the game is largely made up of old elements, including code. All character information is stored in regional and individual databases.
Surprisingly, Blizzard did not expect a large influx of players. However, there were so many of them that already two weeks after the release there was a major glitch. As a result, it became clear that the code would have to be rewritten. But the company only paid attention to this after a flurry of angry feedback from the players. Admittedly, it was the Diablo fans who were to blame.
According to Blizzard, gamers were too quick to join in the boss races, which led to an accelerated item bank and more. Yes, gamers acted differently in 2001. But now the developers should have realised that fast races from thousands of players would start soon. However, nothing has been done.
One of the side effects of the outdated code. Fans did not understand why they had to queue for up to several hours in a place where the server is created for no more than eight players. Not only did the developers not solve this problem in any way, but they also frequently performed maintenance during peak hours. As a result, a person who just wanted to spend a couple of hours after work destroying monsters was forced to wait his turn. At the moment the problem is partly solved, but mostly at the expense of player churn.
The problem is almost solved now, but after the release the constant crashes and lags were very annoying for the players. It seemed easy to simply re-enter the game. However, it’s worth remembering that the location map is generated anew each time. Constant lags also contributed to unexpected deaths in the game. And this led to the fact that a high-level character was losing experience earned over several days.
This was bearable 20 years ago. But now it is a serious problem. There is no trading in the game, and finding the right items is very difficult. As a result, players are looking for other options for exchange and sale. From the developers themselves, this is the official forum, although a separate platform or tab in the game could have been created for players.
Users end up going to Reddit or fan forums. Although Blizzard could have gone along with the players, they decided not to spend too much money on the implementation of the in-game marketplace.
There are only 100 cells in the chest and three extra tabs. Considering the speed at which experienced players collect items, this is disastrously low. As a result, gamers have to create annoying mules. Although the developers could have found another convenient solution.
Even if you have a good graphics card, you shouldn’t turn the settings to maximum. With a large number of players on the screen and a lot of special effects FPS can fall so that the screen will be created real chaos.
On the one hand, the game pleases with improved graphics and controller support. On the other hand, it’s not the same Diablo 2. Yes, the game is beautiful, but capricious, so it will not please all fans of the series.
